Geee, could someone add this to some FAQ? I am tired of writing this
every few weeks:

1) Connect the USB-camera.
2) Boot linux.
3) Insert the module for the USB-core driver.
4) Use lsub or some similar tool to check what vendor/product id the 
   camera has. Here for a genuine CPiA:

lsusb |fgrep id
  idVendor           0x0553 VLSI Vision Ltd.
  idProduct          0x0002 CPiA Camera

or simply check your syslog for the following message:

Feb  1 21:19:35 gretel kernel: usb.c: USB new device connect, assigned device number 3
Feb  1 21:19:35 gretel kernel: usb.c: USB device 3 (prod/vend 0x553/0x2) is not claimed by any active driver.


5) Check out www.linux-usb.org for a driver supporting that ids.
